Jaggery powder vs cubes vs blocks — which format should you import?

Jaggery powder vs cubes vs blocks — which format should you import?

Short answer: order jaggery powder if you blend, dose or dissolve it in manufacturing. Order jaggery cubes for retail packs and food service, where each portion should be the same size. Order jaggery blocks for traditional retail and for bulk processing where you will break or melt it yourself. All three are the same unrefined sugarcane sweetener; only the form and handling differ.

What jaggery is

Jaggery (also called gur) is a traditional, unrefined sweetener. It is made by concentrating pure sugarcane juice without chemical clarifying agents. It keeps the molasses and caramel notes that refined white sugar loses, which is why bakery, beverage, confectionery and health-food brands use it as a clean-label sweetener. Our jaggery is supplied with no chemicals, colours or added refined sugar, in all three forms.

When to choose jaggery powder

Jaggery powder dissolves quickly in hot and cold liquids, disperses evenly into dry blends and flows cleanly through automated dosing equipment. It is the most versatile form for manufacturing:

  • Bakery, biscuits and confectionery
  • Beverages, syrups and instant mixes
  • Breakfast cereals and health bars
  • Sauces, marinades and dressings
  • Clean-label replacement for white sugar

When to choose jaggery cubes

Jaggery cubes give you one consistent measure of sweetness per piece with no mess. They suit retail packs, hospitality sachets, tea and coffee service, and any product where portion control matters more than dissolving speed.

When to choose jaggery blocks

Jaggery blocks are the traditional solid form. They are good value for bulk processing and for markets where shoppers buy jaggery whole. Processors who melt jaggery into syrups or break it down in-house often prefer blocks.

What stays the same across all three

  • Source: sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum), with no chemicals or refined sugar added.

  • Documents: each shipment includes a Certificate of Analysis, Certificate of Origin, phytosanitary certificate and packing list.
  • Lead time: typically 7–10 business days from order confirmation, including inspection, packing and paperwork.
  • Minimum order: 500 kg per product.
